The Song That Changed Arankai’s Life Gets A Powerful New Take For Mental Health

Arankai has released a brand new cover of Switchfoot’s classic “Meant To Live” as part of Hopeless Records’ Songs That Saved My Life series, with the release also supporting mental health charity HeartSupport.

The reimagined version pays tribute to one of the songs that inspired Arankai to pursue rock music, while helping raise awareness for mental health through the long running Songs That Saved My Life initiative. As part of the campaign, fans also have the chance to win a signed Hello Kitty guitar from Arankai’s personal collection, with proceeds supporting HeartSupport.

The release follows recent singles “Choke”, “Playing God” and “Helter Skelter (feat. buffalo_farm)”, as Arankai continues to build momentum after his debut US headline tour, which included multiple sold out shows.

Speaking about the release, Arankai revealed that “Meant To Live” was the first rock song that truly connected with him.

“Meant To Live was my gateway to rock music and I’m honoured that I get to enjoy such a full circle moment singing this song.”

He also explained why supporting HeartSupport was so important, saying the organisation’s focus on mental health within the metal and hardcore community helped him feel a sense of belonging when he was younger.

Arankai’s busy touring schedule continues throughout the rest of the year. He heads to the UK and Europe this September for a run of headline shows and an appearance at Reeperbahn Festival before joining Catch Your Breath across North America this autumn. In early 2027, he’ll return to the UK and Europe as support for Melrose Avenue.
