Sublime Announce New Album ‘Until The Sun Explodes’ and Share Emotional Title Track

Sublime have announced their new album Until The Sun Explodes, set for release on June 12 via Atlantic Records, marking a major new chapter for the band.

Alongside the announcement, they’ve dropped the title track, “Until The Sun Explodes”, which sees Jakob Nowell stepping fully into his role as frontman while paying tribute to his late father, Bradley Nowell.

The track carries a lot of weight emotionally, with Jakob describing it as more than just a song. He said: “Until the Sun Explodes the album is an epilogue… it is a tribute to the expansive works of Sublime… and most importantly it is a thank you. I love you dad, and I owe you my life.”

It’s a fitting introduction to the band’s first full length release with Jakob, keeping that classic Sublime sound intact while pushing things forward. The album also brings in a stacked list of collaborators, including H.R., Fletcher Dragge and G. Love.

The music video for the title track leans heavily into the band’s roots, moving through Long Beach and tying together different eras of the band’s history. It even pulls in figures from the wider skate and punk scene, reinforcing just how connected Sublime are to that culture.

This release also sets up a huge year for the band. Not only are they celebrating 30 years of their self titled album, but they’ll also be making their long awaited UK debut at Slam Dunk Festival this May.

With “Until The Sun Explodes” now out and a full album on the way, it feels like Sublime are stepping into a new era while still holding onto everything that made them what they are.
