Sweet Pill are back with a new single that hits right in the chest.
The New Jersey emo rock favourites have just dropped “Slow Burn”, a driving, emotionally loaded track lifted from their upcoming album Still There’s A Glow, out March 13th. And honestly, this feels like a band levelling up in real time.
“Slow Burn” dives into anxiety, overthinking, and the bad habits we all fall into when life gets overwhelming. Vocalist Zayna Youssef describes it as being stuck in that loop where something feels good in the moment but slowly eats away at you long term. The song captures that tension perfectly, balancing urgency with vulnerability, while the new video leans into themes of surveillance and spiralling thoughts, like a snapshot inside an overactive mind.
It also marks a huge creative turning point for the band.
After spending the last few years touring relentlessly with the likes of The Wonder Years and La Dispute, plus festival runs at Riot Fest, Outbreak and more, Sweet Pill hit a wall. Burnout crept in, expectations piled up, and when it came time to write album number two, they scrapped most of what they’d started and chose to reset.
That reset became Still There’s A Glow.
For the first time, the record was written fully as a band, and you can feel that connection in the music. Half the album was written before Youssef entered therapy, half after, giving the project this really honest arc from struggle to hope. It’s about hitting a low point, facing yourself, and slowly climbing back out. Even the title reflects that idea. You put out a fire, but there’s still an ember glowing.
Sonically, it’s Sweet Pill sounding bigger and more confident while still keeping that emotional core that made people fall in love with them in the first place. Some tracks hit hard, others pull things back, but everything feels intentional. It’s the sound of a band rebuilding themselves and coming out stronger.

With co signs from artists like Hayley Williams and Doja Cat already under their belt, and a UK appearance at Download Festival coming up in June, this feels like a proper new chapter for Sweet Pill. If “Slow Burn” is anything to go by, Still There’s A Glow might be their most important record yet.
Honestly, now’s the time to jump in if you haven’t already.
