Every now and then a band drops into our inbox that immediately catches our attention. Wisconsin’s Endswell are one of those bands..
The band have released “Frame Your Face”, their first new music since 2024’s Keepsake, and it’s an impressive introduction if you’re unfamiliar with what they do. Blending elements of Midwest emo, post hardcore and punk, the track serves as the first preview of Endswell’s upcoming project.
“This song is the best representation of Endswell and what we set out to do,” vocalist Maxwell Culver said. “Everyone is firing on all cylinders and there’s a bit of everything we do best here.”
That confidence comes across throughout the song. While the band’s roots are clearly planted in Midwest emo, they move effortlessly into post hardcore and punk territory when the song calls for it. Nothing feels forced or out of place, which is what makes “Frame Your Face” such an engaging listen.
The lyrics take inspiration from the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, something Culver says influenced much of the writing process.
“The lyrics take heavy inspiration from the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” he explained. “So much so that there’s a line quoted directly from the movie. A lot of themes on this EP touch on nostalgia, self reflection and growing up.”
For a first taste of what’s coming next, “Frame Your Face” does exactly what it needs to do. It introduces the next chapter of Endswell while giving listeners a clear picture of who the band are.

They’re still early in their journey, but based on this release, Endswell feel like a genuinely exciting band to keep an eye on.
