Today’s the day — Santa Cruz hardcore powerhouse DRAIN have unleashed their brand new album …IS YOUR FRIEND via Epitaph Records, and it’s everything fans could’ve hoped for: loud, raw, and packed with that unmistakable live-show energy.
Leading the charge is the blistering new single “Scared of Everything and Nothing”, out today alongside the full record. It’s two and a half minutes of pure adrenaline — slamming riffs, bone-shaking breakdowns, and frontman Sammy Ciaramitaro laying it all out with brutal honesty.
“‘Scared Of Everything And Nothing’ is basically me thinking out loud,” Sammy explains. “It’s about looking back and realizing I’ve achieved everything I wanted ten years ago — but still finding new challenges to overcome. It’s a reminder to live in the moment, fight through the hurdles, and stay stoked no matter what.”
The track captures what makes DRAIN so easy to love — they’re as much about community and connection as they are about chaos. And with …IS YOUR FRIEND, they’ve managed to channel that same pit-level intensity straight into the studio.
Recorded completely live with producer Jon Markson (The Story So Far, Drug Church, One Step Closer), the album skips the polish and clicks for something far more real. No programming, no metronomes — just raw, unfiltered energy. The result? A record that sounds like being shoulder-to-shoulder in a packed venue, screaming every lyric back at the band.
Since forming in 2014, DRAIN have gone from Santa Cruz DIY heroes to one of hardcore’s most exciting names, sharing stages with everyone from Terror to Blink-182. Their third album cements that rise, turning the lessons of hundreds of nights on the road into 10 tracks built for movement, catharsis, and unity.
And yeah — there’s even an exclusive “Scared Of Everything And Nothing” 7-inch and T-shirt available through Last Ride Records (Australia), so collectors, get moving.

Whether you’ve been in the pit since California Cursed or you’re just discovering them today, …IS YOUR FRIEND proves one thing: DRAIN are the real deal. It’s a celebration of every bruise, breakdown, and burst of joy that comes with living life loud.
Turn it up. Today, DRAIN are your new best friend.
