Goldfinger are officially not chilling this summer. The ska-punk legends just dropped “Freaking Out a Bit,” a new single featuring blink-182’s Mark Hoppus—and it’s a total adrenaline rush for anyone who’s ever spiraled mid-scroll or overthought a single text for six hours.

Released via Big Noise, this one’s got everything: a huge chorus, frantic energy, and just enough existential dread to make it feel too relatable. It’s the sound of panic attacks wrapped in sunshine and power chords—and somehow, it works perfectly.
John Feldmann, the band’s longtime frontman and mastermind behind half your favorite pop-punk records, says he had the bones of the song before calling in the cavalry: “Freaking Out a Bit is a song I wrote with Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus… I had the concept for a song and a chorus, and they came in and brought it to life! Mark wrote the best verses, and Travis turned the beat around in the bridge, which gave it a whole new life of its own.”
It’s classic Goldfinger chaos, laced with blink-182-style hooks and the kind of emotional overload that feels right at home in 2025. Whether it’s the nostalgic vibe or the modern-day burnout theme, this one hits that perfect middle ground—equal parts throwback and meltdown.
Feldmann’s been producing the future of pop-punk for years, but this track shows he still knows how to front a band like it’s 1996. Goldfinger, of course, are no strangers to iconic moments. From ska-punk anthems like “Superman” to flipping Conan O’Brien during a late-night interview (yep, that happened), the band has always done things their own unhinged way.
And they’re not slowing down. They’ll be hitting the stage at the sold-out Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach later this month, and honestly, if “Freaking Out a Bit” is any hint of what’s coming, it’s about to be one hell of a set.

Goldfinger might be freaking out—but they’ve never sounded more dialled in.
