Gym Class Heroes are firmly back in motion, with their comeback now stretching well beyond just one new song.
The band have unveiled the official video for “Universal Language”, their first new single in 15 years. Directed by Angelica Valente and Spaced Visuals, the video features acclaimed dancer Dytto alongside frontman Travie McCoy.
“Universal Language” originally arrived in June and marked the band’s first new music in 15 years. McCoy says the idea behind the track came from years spent travelling and a past relationship where language could sometimes be a barrier.

“I’ve been travelling this planet for more than half of my life, and I speak two languages, one I’m fluent in and one I was born with,” he explains. “I think this song is letting people know that LOVE is and ALWAYS will be the UNIVERSAL language.”
It has already been a busy comeback summer for Gym Class Heroes. The band returned to Warped Tour for appearances in Orlando and Long Beach and will now head out on the Back to Basics Tour alongside Lupe Fiasco and B.o.B.
The run kicks off in Cleveland on September 10th and is particularly significant for Gym Class Heroes as it marks their first headline tour since 2011.
Their return first started taking shape last November when McCoy appeared with the Savannah Bananas and revealed plans for the band’s comeback and a new album.
Less than a year later, Gym Class Heroes have released their first new music in 15 years, returned to Warped Tour and lined up their first headline run in the same amount of time, with a new full length album still to come.
