156/Silence Take Aim At Celebrity Obsession On New Single “Proxy Idols” Ahead Of Autumn UK Tour

Pittsburgh metalcore outfit 156/Silence have shared their latest single “Proxy Idols”, the newest track to be released from their upcoming album From A Distance, due out September 4 via Pure Noise Records.

The track arrives alongside an official music video and gives fans another look at what to expect from the band’s next full length release. From A Distance follows a busy period for 156/Silence, who have continued building momentum through extensive touring and a growing reputation as one of the most exciting names in modern metalcore.

Speaking about the inspiration behind “Proxy Idols”, the band said the song was written about society’s growing obsession with celebrities and public figures.

“Celebrity worship is more prevalent than ever. They come and go as they do, being forced into our faces until then the next batch comes through. People’s obsessive compulsion to follow other people’s lives that they’ll never once meet. It’s almost as sad as it is maddening.”

The new album features guest appearances from Mike Hranica of The Devil Wears Prada, Alex Reade of Make Them Suffer and Tony Castrati of Crippling Alcoholism across its 12 track runtime.

The release also kicks off a huge run of touring for the band. Following appearances at Inkcarceration Festival and dates alongside Chiodos this summer, 156/Silence will launch their US headline From A Distance Tour in September before heading to the UK and Europe this October in support of The Devil Wears Prada.

UK fans will be able to catch the band in Bristol, Leeds, London, Manchester and Birmingham when the tour rolls through later this year.
