Mayday Parade Bring Their Ambitious Three Part Album Trilogy To A Close With Sugar

Mayday Parade have announced Sugar, the third and final chapter of their ambitious three part album trilogy, set for release on July 24, 2026. Alongside the announcement, the band have also shared a brand new single and music video for Weekend Music.

The release marks the conclusion of a project that has spanned nearly two years and seen the band write, record and release almost 30 songs across Sweet, Sad and now Sugar. The trilogy has formed the centrepiece of Mayday Parade’s 20th anniversary celebrations, allowing the band to explore different sides of their songwriting while remaining entirely independent.

Speaking about Weekend Music, vocalist Derek Sanders admitted he had concerns about whether the band could maintain the same creative standard throughout such an ambitious project.

“When we began working on Sugar I started to get concerned that we had overextended ourselves. That the good ideas had run dry and needed more time to replenish. Weekend Music is one of the songs that came together and put me at ease. It feels good to be able to create a song that we’re proud of so deep into our career.”

The announcement arrives during a landmark period for the Florida favourites. Over the past two years, Mayday Parade have celebrated their 20th anniversary with their biggest North American tour to date, returned to the Vans Warped Tour main stage and performed alongside the likes of All Time Low, Simple Plan and Jack’s Mannequin. With more than 1.43 billion streams to their name and a catalogue that helped shape a generation of emo and pop punk fans, Sugar looks set to bring one of the band’s most ambitious eras to a fitting close.
