You know those gigs where you walk out knowing you’ve just seen something genuinely rare? That was Neck Deep at The Rocking Chair in Wrexham. Their hometown. Opening night. Over five years since they last played here. There was no way we were missing this one.
The last time Neck Deep played Wrexham was Focus Wales 2016 at William Aston Hall, with around 1,500 people packed in. Fast forward to 2025 and they’re stepping onto the stage at The Rocking Chair, a 500-cap room that locals also know as Central Station. Yes, that Central Station from Can’t Kick Up The Roots. Even before the band walked out, it already felt special.
From the moment they hit the stage, it was obvious this wasn’t just another tour date. This was personal. The room was buzzing, full of longtime fans who’ve grown up with this band, and Neck Deep fed off that energy instantly. It felt tight, loud, emotional, and effortlessly fun all at once. One of those sets where everything just lands.
Hearing Life’s Not Out To Get You songs live ten years on still feels unreal. Somehow, those tracks haven’t aged a day. If anything, they’ve only gotten stronger. Shouting every word back in a room this small, with the band that wrote them standing just a few feet away, felt properly surreal. You could feel the nostalgia without it ever tipping into feeling dated.
Then came December, and the place completely lost it. The room was bouncing, every single person singing along at the top of their lungs. Ben even called it their “unofficial Christmas song,” which somehow made it hit even harder. It was one of those moments where the band barely needed to sing at all because the crowd had it covered.
The singalongs didn’t let up for the rest of the set either. Genuinely loud. Every lyric thrown back with zero hesitation. Neck Deep looked like they were having the time of their lives, clearly aware of how much this night meant. This might honestly be one of the best Neck Deep shows we’ve ever been to.
Big love to Campfire Social as well. Seeing a local band on the bill felt perfect for a night like this. They were a great opener, set the tone brilliantly, and fit the vibe of the show naturally. We’re definitely going to make sure we catch them more heading into 2026.
This wasn’t just another gig.. It was a homecoming, a celebration, and a reminder of why Neck Deep still matter so much to this scene. Small room. Big feelings!
