I See Stars Spin Back Into Action With ‘THE WHEEL’

It’s been nearly a decade since I See Stars last dropped an album, and honestly, fans were starting to wonder if it would ever happen. But today, the wait is finally over—THE WHEEL has arrived via Sumerian Records, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the most important records of the band’s career.

For a group that helped define electronic hardcore, this one feels different. The last time they put this much time into an album was way back on their debut 3D, and you can hear that same kind of hunger all over these 14 tracks. It’s not just a bunch of songs thrown together—it’s a full journey, a time capsule of the past seven years of their lives. The band leaned into fate itself during the writing process, literally spinning a digital wheel every day in the studio to decide what to work on. What started as a joke became the album’s whole concept: trust chance, trust the universe, and see where the wheel takes you.

That openness brought out some of their most vulnerable material yet. “carry on for you,” which dropped today with its official video, was written after Devin and Andrew lost their uncle to cancer, and it’s already standing out as one of the band’s most heartbreaking songs. Elsewhere, Devin opens up about a serious health condition he battled that left him hospitalized for months, something he’s rarely spoken about outside of music. Listening through, you feel every moment of struggle, but also the strength that came from pushing through it all.

Of course, it wouldn’t be I See Stars without the heavy hitters. There’s the glitchy chaos of “D4MAGE DONE,” the cinematic weight of “Flood Light,” and a huge collab moment with Palaye Royale on “Lost It.” But it all ties together into something that demands to be played front to back, with the closing track “Curtain Call” leaving listeners with questions about love, legacy, and what it really means to give your whole life to music.

The album was produced by David Bendeth and mixed mostly by Zakk Cervini, with Tom Norris also on deck, and you can hear the polish in every detail. Still, at its heart, THE WHEEL is raw, human, and deeply personal—the kind of record that proves why fans stuck around all these years.

And if you’re ready to experience it live, the band are hitting Australia and Asia next month before heading to Florida for Vans Warped Tour Orlando in November. Tickets are already flying, so keep an eye on official outlets if you’re planning to spin the wheel with them in person.

After nearly a decade of silence, I See Stars have made their return count. THE WHEEL isn’t just an album—it’s proof that sometimes letting fate decide can create something unforgettable.
