Militarie Gun’s B A D I D E A Is Just the Warning Shot—The Album’s Coming for You

Militarie Gun are back, and they’re not holding anything back. The LA-based band have just announced their new album God Save The Gun, set to drop on 17th October via Loma Vista Recordings, and if the lead single “B A D I D E A” is anything to go by, we’re in for a record that hits hard in all the right (and wrong) ways.

The track made its debut on Apple Music’s New Music Daily with Zane Lowe, where frontman Ian Shelton talked about the song’s message and its chaotic, self-destructive energy. The music video—directed by Shelton himself—leans all the way in, painting a messy, unapologetic picture of vices and bad decisions. As he put it, it’s about “a new iteration of yourself looking back at a moment you made a mistake while never truly reflecting.”

And that’s really the heart of God Save The Gun: it’s a brutally honest look at being at your lowest when you’re meant to be at your peak. Shelton’s never shied away from difficult topics—in 2023’s Life Under The Gun, he explored cycles of hurt and addiction in his family. But this time, he’s not just telling the story—he’s living it. Writing the record meant confronting his own struggles head-on, and you can feel that urgency in every riff, every shout, every lyric.

The band—now solidified with William Acuña and Kevin Kiley on guitars, Waylon Trim on bass, and David Stalsworth on drums—sound sharper and more locked-in than ever. They’ve teamed up with producer Riley MacIntyre (Arlo Parks, The Kills) to push their sound into something bigger and bolder, while roping in old friends like James Goodson (Dazy) and Nick Panella (MSPAINT) for some creative chaos.

Pre-save here!

If Life Under The Gun put Militarie Gun on the map, God Save The Gun might just be the record that cements them as one of the most exciting and fearless bands in modern punk. And with a title like that, you know they’re coming for all of us.
