Dance Gavin Dance just dropped their new single “Trap Door” and if this is a taste of what’s coming, Pantheon might just be one of their most explosive albums yet. The track is the third preview from their upcoming eleventh album and feels like a controlled detonation—equal parts chaotic, catchy, and cathartic. It’s got everything we’ve come to love from DGD: off-kilter riffs, layered vocals that bounce between smooth and feral, and a weirdly addictive energy that somehow makes perfect sense.
Andrew Wells, now stepping into a more central role as vocalist/guitarist, describes “Trap Door” as a song about standing your ground when the world’s trying to knock you off it. It’s big, bold, and charged with the kind of grit that only comes from fighting your way through the storm. Considering what the band’s been through lately—the loss of bassist Tim Feerick, lineup changes, and just… life—this new material hits with extra weight.
The full album, Pantheon, lands on 12th September via Rise Records. And if you thought they were going to play it safe, think again. This one’s got George Clinton on a track called “Space Cow Initiation Ritual” (yes, really), and from what we’ve heard so far, it’s a pivot back to their heavier, more unpredictable roots. There’s still melody, sure—but it’s buried in a wall of chaos, just how we like it.
They’ve wrapped up their Return Of The Robot tour, which hit major cities across North America, and now all eyes are on the album drop. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just DGD-curious, this is the moment to dive in.

Pantheon is available to pre-order now as a 2LP set. Don’t sleep on it—this one feels like a new era in real time.
