Taylor Acorn has released new single “Growing Pains”, looking back at the insecurities she carried as a teenager and realising that getting older didn’t necessarily make them disappear.
The track is the latest preview of Poster Child Deluxe, which arrives October 23rd via Fearless Records. It follows “Isn’t It Strange”, Acorn’s recent collaboration with Knox, and continues the story started on the original Poster Child album.
On “Growing Pains”, Acorn reflects on expecting adulthood to bring some kind of finish line for self doubt, heartbreak and the pressure of figuring yourself out.
“Growing Pains is a favourite of mine. I think it’s such a universal feeling to want to grow up and grow out of the feelings we feel when we are young,” Acorn explains.
“I remember thinking to myself ‘Man, I can’t wait to be an adult and never have to feel like this,’ whenever it came to loss, the way I saw myself in the mirror, relationships, school, and so on, but oh boy was I so wrong.”
She also speaks about the pressures that have come with getting older and building a career, including the constant expectation to be present online.
“I am human though; we all are, we all have bad days and struggle, and I think that’s a beautiful thing. Without that, you simply cannot grow.”
Following a recent European run supporting All Time Low, Acorn will appear at Ceremony Festival in Nashville on October 17th before heading out across the US with State Champs from November 5th.
