Northlane have released “Crucified”, the latest single from their forthcoming seventh studio album Anemoia, arriving October 30th.
Following “Evian” and “CUT_it”, the new track turns its attention towards the increasingly hostile way people communicate with each other, from online arguments and political disagreements to wider conflict.
“‘Crucified’ is about the collapse of civil discourse,” explains frontman Marcus Bridge. “The way every disagreement now defaults to attack, every conversation becomes a battleground, every difference of opinion ends with someone playing the victim.”
Bridge says the idea extends far beyond politics, with the song looking at what he sees as a broader regression in communication.
“The instinct to go for the throat rather than hear someone out has seeped into every corner of life.”
Anemoia was executive produced by former Bring Me The Horizon keyboardist and producer Jordan Fish, with guitarist and songwriter Jon Deiley initially finding inspiration for the record after seeing a set from UK producer Evian Christ. That experience led him to explore how elements of trance could sit alongside Northlane’s electronic metal sound.
The ten track record follows 2022’s Obsidian and will also feature Dayseeker vocalist Rory Rodriguez on its title track.
Northlane will then head to the UK alongside Dayseeker later this year, beginning with two nights at KK’s Steel Mill in Wolverhampton on November 28th and 29th. Further shows follow in Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow and London before the tour continues into Europe.
