Mallory Knox are continuing their new chapter with original vocalist Mikey Chapman, returning with new single “The Dog” as the band also confirm a run of European tour dates.
The track follows “Afterglow” and marks another release from the reunited partnership of Chapman, guitarist James Gillett and drummer Dave Rawling. Chapman first returned to the stage with Mallory Knox at Slam Dunk in 2024, bringing the original frontman back into the fold after several years away.
For Chapman, “The Dog” comes from looking at the unavoidable highs and lows that come with life, and what happens when we try to escape the difficult parts.
“When writing ‘The Dog’, I wanted to really explore the duality found in our journeys through life,” he explains. “Ebb and flow are inevitable features of the human experience. You can’t expect the good without the bad, or ease without struggle.”
He adds that the song ultimately comes back to learning how to face what follows us rather than continually trying to avoid it.
“To face the black dog that follows us all. To find ways to make it our friend.”
The latest release continues what has quickly become a proper second chapter for Mallory Knox. Across their original run, the Cambridge band landed three consecutive UK Top 40 albums with Signals, Asymmetry and Wired, while building a live history that included Reading & Leeds, Download, Slam Dunk and headline shows at venues including London’s Roundhouse and KOKO.
“The Dog” is out now, with Mallory Knox also confirming a new set of European live dates as Chapman, Gillett and Rawling continue the band’s return. Tickets go on sale September 30th.
