KIDPUNK have signed to Easy Life Records following years of building independently, with the Newcastle punk rock band marking the next step with new single ‘Surrender’.
The four piece have spent the past few years taking the DIY route, independently releasing two EPs alongside a string of singles and picking up support slots wherever they could. That approach has started paying off, with their ‘BLACKEYE’ EP now passing one million streams and the band building a growing audience online and at shows.
‘Surrender’ is their first release through Easy Life Records and, according to vocalist Shaun Wright, is about refusing to simply accept defeat when things feel like they are falling apart.
“‘Surrender’ is a song that can be interpreted in many ways, but to me it’s a metaphor for those moments when defeat or heartbreak feels inevitable, but there’s something more honourable going down swinging rather than surrendering without a fight.”
KIDPUNK originally began as Wright’s solo project before developing into the current lineup of Wright, drummer Daniel Thompson, bassist Brandon Proctor and guitarist Wade Currin.
After establishing themselves independently and growing their annual Newcastle headline show year on year, the Easy Life signing gives KIDPUNK the chance to take what they have built on the DIY circuit into its next stage!
