Hawthorne Heights have officially signed with Thriller Records and dropped their brand new single, ‘Carry Me’, alongside an accompanying music video. The release marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Ohio post-hardcore favourites as they look to explore a heavier direction.

Hawthorne Heights – ‘Carry On’

More than two decades into their career, the band are looking to push themselves into new territory. Frontman JT Woodruff says their latest material draws inspiration from heavier artists including Knocked Loose, Beartooth and Turnstile, while still maintaining the identity that fans have come to know.

“The real challenge for me in writing new music, this far into our career, is trying to go down roads we’ve never explored,” Woodruff explains.

Behind the track is a deeply personal story. Woodruff opens up about losing both of his parents, navigating grief and dealing with an increasingly overwhelming world. He describes songwriting as an important outlet for emotions he struggles to express elsewhere.

“This song brought out an anger in my voice that hasn’t been there for awhile, and I embraced it.”

Woodruff also explains that longtime fans may recognise a few references to the band’s earlier material, although ‘Carry Me’ is firmly focused on where Hawthorne Heights are now.

The release arrives as the band continue their North American tour, with dates scheduled throughout November, including an appearance at Warped Tour in Orlando on November 14.

‘Carry Me’ and its official music video are out now via Thriller Records.
