Australian heavyweights Northlane have announced their seventh studio album, Anemoia, arriving on October 30th via Independent and Immortal Music Group. Alongside the announcement, the band have released its latest single, CUT_it, giving fans another look at what to expect from the record.
Executive produced by Jordan Fish, Anemoia follows the band’s Australian number one album Obsidian and explores the idea of feeling nostalgic for a time or place you’ve never experienced. While the album continues Northlane’s signature fusion of heavy music and electronics, this time the band have also drawn inspiration from trance, drum and bass, jungle and pop, creating what they describe as their most hopeful record to date.
Speaking about the new single, vocalist Marcus Bridge explained that CUT_it is centred on the feeling of complete burnout.
“CUT_it is about burnout. The feeling of grinding through things when you’re completely spent, mentally and physically. The imagery is deliberately visceral, painting a picture of that exhaustion rather than analysing it.”
Bridge also says the new album balances darkness with optimism rather than leaning entirely into either.
“There’s darkness here, but it’s not nihilism and there’s hope, but it’s not naivety.”
Anemoia features ten tracks, including previous single Evian and the title track featuring Dayseeker. The record marks another step forward for a band that has spent more than 15 years constantly evolving while building a global following of more than 500 million streams.
Northlane will support the album with a UK and European tour alongside Dayseeker later this year. The run includes two nights in Wolverhampton before heading through Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow and London’s O2 Academy Brixton, before continuing across mainland Europe throughout December.
