Bren Lukens Announces Rare Headline Solo Show in Philadelphia

Just days after fans were celebrating the news that Bren Lukens would return to the stage alongside Jeff Rosenstock next month, the former Modern Baseball vocalist has announced another surprise live appearance.

Lukens revealed this week that they will be performing a headline show at Philadelphia venue Johnny Brenda’s on June 23rd. The intimate event marks one of Bren’s rarest public performances since Modern Baseball stepped away from the spotlight in 2017.

Sharing the announcement on Instagram, Lukens wrote: “love y’all lots” while revealing details of the one night event. Tickets are limited to two per person, with organisers also confirming the show is restricted to attendees aged 21 and over.

The announcement comes after Bren was confirmed to open night five of Jeff Rosenstock’s Death Rosenstock In Chicago Forever residency on July 21st. That news alone generated excitement across the emo community, with many fans viewing it as a long overdue return for one of the most recognisable voices of the 2010s emo revival.

While there is still no indication that these performances signal anything beyond a handful of live appearances, fans suddenly have more opportunities than they have had in years to see Bren back on stage.

For many Modern Baseball fans, that’s reason enough to celebrate!
