Southern California band Fox Thoughts have officially introduced themselves with the release of their debut project, Demo 2026. The self produced release is out now and acts as the band’s first real snapshot of who they are creatively, pulling together elements of indie rock, pop punk and hardcore across a deliberately varied collection of tracks.
Rather than aiming for a polished debut, Demo 2026 leans into a more raw and human approach. The project was largely written and performed by vocalist Laxon, alongside contributions from drummer Erich and bassist Brennan, with the band intentionally keeping some imperfections intact to preserve the emotion behind the songs.
Across the demo, Fox Thoughts move between melodic and heavier moments while keeping the focus firmly on personal themes and emotional tension. Tracks like “Out In The Wind” explore family relationships and self reflection, while opener “Tourniquet” looks at the complicated relationship between creativity and obsession.
Speaking on the project, Laxon said: “There was a very specific sound I was chasing. Something polished but still visceral and imperfect. I couldn’t really find that anywhere else, so I just did it myself. I don’t know if we nailed it, but we got closer to what we were hearing in our heads.”

The release also gives an early look at where the band could head next, with each track pulling from slightly different influences instead of locking into one fixed sound. Fox Thoughts are set to play South Gate, California on May 27 at Buena Mesa as they continue building momentum around the release.
