Good Sleepy Step Into Their Own on ‘Constant Humming’

There’s something special about seeing a band step into their moment, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Good Sleepy right now.

The Central Massachusetts emo four piece have officially released their sophomore album Constant Humming, and it feels like the sound of a band fully locking in. Fourteen tracks deep, this record dives headfirst into early adulthood confusion, fractured relationships, spiritual doubt, and that constant internal noise that never really switches off. As vocalist Thomas Sullivan puts it, it’s “a constant humming in the back of my mind.” If you’ve ever laid awake overthinking everything, this one’s going to hit.

We recently caught up with the band to talk about this new chapter, and hearing them unpack the record makes it land even harder. This album has been four years in the making, self recorded in the secluded mountains of Central Massachusetts and co produced with Boston’s Charlie Burket. It’s the first time since high school that the four of them have come together to create a fully cohesive body of work, and you can feel that unity throughout.

Standout track 745 perfectly captures the emotional core of the record. Sullivan shared that writing and recording it “came so naturally and felt so right,” calling it the band’s favourite on the album. It’s that balance of raw weight and sparkly, dreamlike riffs that makes Constant Humming feel both heavy and strangely comforting.

Following their 2021 debut everysinglelittlebit on No Sleep Records, which was produced by Chris Freeman of Hot Mulligan and Gary Cioni of Crime in Stereo, this new record sees Good Sleepy refining their identity rather than searching for it. The ambient Midwest emo textures are still there, but this time they feel sharper, more confident, and uniquely theirs.

We named Good Sleepy as ones to watch this year for a reason. Between their first full US tour last summer and now this release, they’ve been steadily building something real. Constant Humming feels like the payoff.

If you’ve been waiting for an album that understands the weird push and pull between growth and regression, nostalgia and moving on, this is it. Go and sit with it. Let it play front to back. Then tell us your favourite track.

This is Good Sleepy stepping into who they are.
