ICYMI: SPITE and Boundaries Deliver Pure Fury on “Looking Glass”

If you somehow missed it last week, Southern California heavyweights SPITE dropped one of their most emotionally charged songs yet — and it hits like a gut punch. “Looking Glass,” featuring Boundaries frontman Matt McDougal, is the latest track to tear through the build-up to their upcoming album New World Killer, landing October 31 via Rise Records.

Spite – ‘Looking Glass’ (ft. Boundaries)

Clocking in at under three minutes, “Looking Glass” doesn’t waste a second. It’s raw, volatile, and full of that signature Spite aggression that’s become their calling card — but this time, there’s a deeply personal core behind the chaos. Vocalist Darius Tehrani revealed the track was written in the wake of his father’s passing, describing it as being “about coping with the passing of my father… being robbed of grief and carrying an anger with nowhere to go.” You can feel that emotion bleeding through every guttural scream and crushing breakdown.

Boundaries’ Matt McDougal adds another layer of depth, his vocals slicing through the mix with devastating precision. The collaboration feels natural — two heavy acts known for their intensity joining forces to channel something heartbreakingly human through pure sonic violence.

The track arrives with a grim, visually stunning visualiser that pairs perfectly with the song’s emotional weight. It’s a reflection of loss, rage, and release, delivered in the only way Spite knows how — with full-blown ferocity.

“Looking Glass” follows the unrelenting singles “Lights Out” (which came with a seriously NSFW video) and the title track “New World Killer,” both setting the tone for what’s shaping up to be one of the most punishing metal releases of the year.

If this is just a glimpse into the world Spite are building, New World Killer might not just destroy — it could redefine what modern deathcore can sound like.
