Set It Off are back — and they’re absolutely fuming. The band has just dropped ‘Pathological’, a fiery new single that’s basically a sonic middle finger to anyone who’s ever lied straight to their face. It’s sharp, it’s loud, and it perfectly sets the tone for their upcoming self-titled album, out November 7th.
Vocalist Cody Carson doesn’t hold back when explaining what inspired the track. “It’s unfortunate — the number of people I’ve come across in my lifetime that feel the need to make stuff up all the time because they feel like their current life isn’t exciting enough,” he says. It’s a story a lot of people can relate to — the kind of exhausting encounters that start with harmless “white lies” and end with someone’s whole life unravelling. Cody’s had enough of that energy, and ‘Pathological’ is his way of calling it out loud and clear.
From the first riff, you can tell Set It Off have tapped into something raw. The track blends punchy guitars, rap-inspired flows, and a healthy dose of venom — it’s easily one of their heaviest releases to date. It also happens to open the upcoming record, marking the start of a new independent chapter for the band. Following the success of radio hits like ‘Punching Bag’, ‘Rotten’, and ‘Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing [REBORN]’, the trio — Cody Carson, Maxx Danziger, and Zach DeWall — are now steering their own ship, fully in control of their sound and future.
“This is not the final destination, but it’s the road we should have been running down the whole time,” Cody says of the record. And judging by the first taste, it’s a path paved with fury, riffs, and the kind of anthems that’ll have crowds screaming every word back at them.
Set It Off’s self-titled album arrives November 7th, featuring ‘Pathological’, ‘Rotten’, ‘Punching Bag’, and more. They’re also hitting the road this fall for The Self-Titled Tour, alongside Fame On Fire, VANA, and The Pretty Wild — with a run dedicated to the memory of Dave Shapiro, Emma Huke, and Kendall Fortner. Tickets and pre-orders now available!
Set It Off are calling out the fakes, the phonies, and the pathological liars — and they sound better (and madder) than ever.
