Hot Mulligan have just dropped their second single “Island in the Sun,” and it might be one of their most exciting yet—featuring none other than Cory Castro of Free Throw. With shimmering guitars, soaring vocals, and that signature brand of emotional chaos, this one’s a total scene dream.
It follows the release of “And a Big Load” and gives fans another taste of what’s to come from their upcoming album The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still, due out August 22nd via Wax Bodega. Based on the first two singles, this record is shaping up to be some of their most vulnerable, chaotic, and confident work to date.
In true Hot Mulligan style, the album doesn’t hold back. Themes of self-destruction, existential dread, and emotional honesty are all wrapped up in massive hooks and unforgettable song titles like “Monica Lewinskibidi” and “It Smells Like Fudge Axe in Here.” The result? A record that somehow makes the crushing weight of being alive sound like a singalong.
Speaking about the album, guitarist Chris Freeman summed it up: “Our biggest conflicts and struggles are often self-inflicted… At the end of the day it’ll all be left for you to deal with. It’s terrifying.”
This summer, the band are keeping busy with intimate US shows and festival slots at Bonnaroo, Sea.Hear.Now and more—before heading across the UK and Europe to support Pierce The Veil in arenas this autumn.

With The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still dropping later this month, now’s the time to catch up. Stream “Island in the Sun” and “And a Big Load” now, and get ready—Hot Mulligan are about to run 2025.
