WSTR just dropped their brand new acoustic EP Bare Bones, and honestly? It might be their most vulnerable release yet — and we’re kind of obsessed with it.
After months of teasing with stripped-down versions of fan favourites, the full EP is finally here. We first got a taste with the acoustic rework of Three Days Sober back in April, and then Eastbound & Down followed in June — both hinting that this wasn’t just a random side project, but something way more intentional. Now, with Bare Bones out in full, it’s clear: WSTR wanted to give these songs space to breathe, and in doing so, they’ve hit a whole new emotional chord.
Gone are the punchy drums and crunchy guitars — instead, it’s all clean melodies, raw lyrics, and that classic WSTR wit dialled into something more intimate. This isn’t about being quiet for the sake of it. It’s about getting closer to the heart of each track — and showing off just how solid these songs are even without the usual chaos.
The acoustic versions of Jobbo and Until Then feel especially weighty in this new context. And if you thought “emo” and “unplugged” couldn’t make your throat tighten in 2025, this EP might prove you very, very wrong.
It’s also a reminder of just how good WSTR are at storytelling — even without distortion to hide behind. Whether you’ve been with them since day one or just stumbled across Bare Bones on a chill playlist, this release feels like a love letter to fans who’ve grown up with the band, and a reminder that WSTR don’t need to be loud to hit hard.
