Arm’s Length Release Emotionally Charged Sophomore Album ‘There’s A Whole World Out There’

Ontario’s rising emo-rock outfit Arm’s Length have returned with their highly anticipated sophomore album, There’s A Whole World Out There, out now via Pure Noise Records. The record is a vulnerable and cathartic dive into grief, mental illness, and self-reflection—delivered through sweeping guitars, piercing lyricism, and an unshakable sense of honesty.

Arm’s Length – Fatal Flaw

Building on the momentum of earlier singles like “The Weight”, “You Ominously End”, and “Funny Face”, the band has also unveiled a brand-new music video for “Fatal Flaw”, a standout track that captures the heart of the album’s emotional core.

“Fatal Flaw is a song about losing touch with your younger self and truly wondering if they would be proud of the person you are today,” explains vocalist and guitarist Allen Steinberg. “The lyric ‘look at what you’ve done’ in the chorus is meant to be both accusatory and sentimental. It’s a classic Arm’s Length tune with a catchy chorus and big dramatic bridge.”

There’s A Whole World Out There is already earning early praise from outlets like Alternative Press, Ones To Watch, and Brooklyn Vegan, and it’s easy to see why. The record feels like a bold leap forward both musically and emotionally. Produced by longtime collaborator Anton DeLost, the album takes the band’s emotionally driven sound to new heights, with the help of additional contributions from Bonnie Brooksbank (strings) and Alex Scalzo-Brown (piano).

While Steinberg wrote much of the material solo, the final product is very much a full-band effort, brought to life by guitarist Jeremy Whyte, bassist Ben Greenblatt, and drummer Jeff Whyte. And it’s rooted in some of the darkest moments Steinberg has ever faced.

“The songs aren’t written for anyone else at all,” he says. “I was the most mentally ill I’d ever been. But out of that came something real, something honest.”

The 12-track album doesn’t shy away from emotional heaviness, yet finds moments of clarity and resilience within the noise. It’s a deeply personal record, but one that feels universally resonant.
