My Chemical Romance are celebrating 20 years of The Black Parade with a new anniversary edition bringing together material from the record’s original sessions.
Announcing the release today, the band revealed that, for the first time, everything they finished while making The Black Parade will be collected together in one release.
“Twenty years ago, we wrote what would become The Black Parade, our third record and the follow up to Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge,” the band said. “At the time, we could never have imagined what the record would mean for the band.”
The anniversary release will also see My Chemical Romance reunite with artist James Jean, whose work played a major part in the visual identity surrounding the album. Jean has created three new pieces featuring characters from the world of The Black Parade.
The band described the collection as a way of honouring “how timeless and enduring” the record has become, signing off their announcement with a familiar message: “To the death!”
