Holding Absence return with new single ‘Whisper Of A Dream’ and debut on Sumerian Records

South Wales trio Holding Absence have officially returned with their new single ‘Whisper Of A Dream’, marking their first release since 2023’s The Noble Art Of Self-Destruction and their first outing on new label Sumerian Records.

‘Whisper Of A Dream’

The track signals the start of a new era for the band following a period of reflection after their last album campaign. It also introduces a wider concept that will continue to unfold, including the debut of a new character tied into the visuals and future releases.

Speaking on the comeback single, frontman Lucas Woodland explained why the band took their time returning. “Whisper Of A Dream is our first song back in what feels like forever. After releasing our third record, The Noble Art Of Self-Destruction, it felt essential to step away for a while to take stock and rediscover who we are as a band.”

He added that the track felt like the right way to reintroduce Holding Absence, bridging what fans already know with what’s coming next. “In many ways, it represents everything Holding Absence has always been, while introducing new elements to our sound and opening the door to what comes next.”

Alongside the release, the band have also unveiled a music video featuring their new robot mascot Y4-BB0, hinting at a bigger narrative direction for this next chapter.

After closing their last album era with a clear sense of finality, this return feels like a reset moment. New label, new ideas, and the first glimpse at what Holding Absence are building next.
