Tades From Hot Mulligan in a Country Video? Absolutely, Yes Please

This got brought to our attention and immediately grabbed us — Tades Sanville from Hot Mulligan popping up in a Texas country music video might be the most unexpectedly fun crossover we’ve seen all year.

Treaty Oak Revival just dropped the music video for “Blue Star,” one of the standout tracks from their new album West Texas Degenerate, and it’s already doing the rounds thanks to its stacked list of surprise cameos. We’re talking Koe Wetzel as a flask-swigging high school principal, members of Belmont, Dexter & The Moonrocks, Gannon Fremin, William Clark Green, Bo Bundy, Mitchell Ferguson, Austin Upchurch… and then out of nowhere, there’s Tades, casually walking in like he belongs in the Texas music universe.

Treaty Oak Revival – Blue Star

The whole video feels like late-90s Americana and pop-punk energy blended into one — a high-school-football fever dream that shouldn’t work but absolutely does. Koe sets the tone early, giving the morning announcements with the confidence of someone who has definitely seen some things and is powering through with whatever’s inside that flask. It’s the perfect mix of humour, cameos and a genuinely great track behind it all.

But the reason we’re here? Tades’ moment at around the 2:00 mark. It’s quick, it’s hilarious and it’s exactly the kind of cameo that makes you double-take and rewind just to make sure you didn’t imagine it. Hot Mulligan fans are definitely going to lose it when they spot him. It’s like the worlds of emo, punk and Texas country music ran into each other in a school hallway and decided to film a music video together.

And credit where it’s due — Michael Herrick once again nails the visual side completely. The man just doesn’t miss when it comes to music videos, and “Blue Star” is another example of how he somehow balances personality, story and pure entertainment without losing the soul of the song.

There’s also a fun pattern forming with crossover moments lately. Sam Canty recently featured on a track with Ben Quad titled “Did You Decide to Skip Arts and Crafts,” and now we’ve got Tades showing up in a country video. It feels like everyone in the scene is having fun blurring genre lines and making unexpected cameos, and honestly? We’re here for all of it.. Hey, maybe we’ll get more features in the future?

“Blue Star” is already being called one of the most fun videos Treaty Oak Revival have done, and if you’re into spotting cameos, loving Easter eggs, or you just want to see Tades Sanville acting up in a completely different genre’s universe, trust us — this one’s worth a watch.
